CMAS goal is to create more events that are family oriented. The Spring Carnival will be filled with many art and science games from CMAS as well as our community vendors and hosts. One of their main attraction will be the Monkey Dunk Bucket. They are recruiting candidates from our community to have some community fun and to take the challenge to get dunked. Perhaps the celebrities of our county will come forward and volunteer.
CMAS is located at 15210 Lakeshore Drive, in Clearlake at the Art House Gallery. Every Friday, CMAS has a Science Friday at 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. Students must sign up for space is limited. On Wednesday Thursday, Friday and Saturdays, CMAS offers other project-based activities for families to enjoy. The Art House Gallery is not only a gallery but is a quiet studio with lots to offer. CMAS offer group appointments for families with special needs to enjoy a quiet, homestyle setting with low lighting. Contact Stephanie Figueroa (707) 295-1030 for appointments.
During summer break CMAS will offer sewing workshops for ages 8 and up. Workshop details in a project of choice from start to finish. Families are invited to the Art House Gallery Sewing Shop to create their projects with their children on appointment bases. Price is determined by project.
CMAS works hard to find investors, advisors, grants and board members to create their future dream of a green built building for a Childrens Museum Discovery Exploratorium for families to engage together with art and science education in Lake County.
In 2017, CMAS created the Clearlake Wildlife Youth Art Project to contribute to the beautification of Lake County with youth art. CMAS currently has 16 youth 4 foot by 4 foot murals mounted around Lake County from students ages 10–16. This is an ongoing project. CMAS is always looking for new youth artists to paint a mural of a wildlife critter to be mounted on a building around the lake. Currently, CMAS needs a youth artist for one of their sponsors, Food Etc., to draw a blue heron, Egret and a Bass in their natural habitat. This program details in parent participation and dedication from start to finish. This is a free program to students. If any youth would like to help beautify Lake County with a mural contact CMAS.
CMAS Lego Robotic Stems Program has grown to four locations around the lake. We serve children ages three and up who engage using their critical thinking skills to make robots move. Every second Saturday at the Redbud Library and every forth Saturday at the Middletown Library from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. CMAS Home School Outreach Program serves Grace Church in Kelseyville and the Baptist Church in Lakeport which are scheduled by appointment only. We are incorporating a coding program using Scratch for advance students. This is a free program for families. As CMAS Lego Robotic Programs continues to grow, with funding we be able to obtain more computers to reach more students.
CMAS encourages parent participation in most of all the events and workshops that they promote. Last year CMAS partnered with the Lawrence Hall of Science from Berkeley to create a mystery festival. Over 200 children engaged with parents as volunteers to successfully complete 14 forensic lab stations. The prior four years CMAS did annual spring camps at Ely Stage Stop.
CMAS goal is to bond alliances and create partnerships between other organization in Lake County. Our Spring Art and Science Carnival gives opportunities from art and science organizations to provide resource for community awareness. CMAS Spring Art and Science Carnival gives families a day to engage with their children and have old fashion family fun with art and science education.
