CLEARLAKE— Childrens Museum of Art and Science is presenting community family fun at the American Legion Hall 12770 Austin Rd., Clearlake on February 26. Arrive at 2 p.m. and wait for the Mask Parade to arrive, led by the Lower Lake High School drumline. While you wait for the parade to reach its final destination of the American Legion Hall, hunt for treasures from our Lake County craft vendors. There will be plenty of free art and science activities for families to engage in.
Put on your Mardi Gras costume and mask to march down Austin Road to American Legion Hall with the Lower Lake High School Drumline. The lineup is at 3 p.m. at Austin Skate Park. Outside activities along with joining the parade are free. Traditional Mardi Gras Cajun cuisine, kid meals and desserts will be available for purchase.
Listen to New Orleans familiar tunes with local musicians, Gloria Scott/ vocals, Victor Hall/ keyboard, Victor Hall junior/ drums, Howard Dockens/guitar, Gary Miller/ trumpet, sunny Cordel/ saxophone, and Mike Roark/ bass. Victor hall with Camp Fame and Don Coffin will introduce their music magic from their talented music students.
Tickets are for inside live music entertainment and exciting art and science activities only, starting at 5 pm. Tickets will be available at the door for $20 per ticket (youth under 15 years old are admitted free) accompanied by parents. Inside games and activities start at 5 p.m. Live music starts at 6 p.m. Dress up in your Mardi Gras costume and mask to join the costume and mask competition.
Raising funds for non-profit, Childrens Museum of Art and Science annual Spring Survival Day Camp for kids on April 16 at the Clearlake Campgrounds. Funds will help with transportation, materials, activities, food expenses to help provide free art, science, and music hands-on education to children who sign up. Donations are accepted to provide free hands-on Art, Music, and Science educational activities for underprivileged children in our community. CMAS is committed to stimulating children’s curiosity with the motivation of learning arts, music, and science to Lake County, past, present, future, and complementing efforts in schools, child care, homes, and public events to enrich the lives and education of children and families of all color, ages, socio-economy and cultural backgrounds.
Hands-on art, music, and science experiences provide opportunities for personal growth, cooperation, self-expression, shared exploration, decision making, basic skills practice, critical thinking skills, and the exercise of the imagination.
